PTE Preparation - 24 Weeks

Course Overview
The purpose of the PTE Preparation course is to provide students with the skills required to achieve a high score in the PTE test. These course focuses on developing:

  • Listening skills: the course develops the ability to understand spoken English at various speeds and accents. Students practice listening to audio recordings, podcasts, and speeches.

  • Reading comprehension: the course enhances reading skills to understand and analyse a wide range of texts, including articles, academic papers, and literature.

  • Speaking fluency: the course focuses on speaking fluently and clearly. Students practice expressing ideas coherently and confidently. Teachers focus on pronunciation, intonation, and stress patterns.

  • Vocabulary and lexical skills: the course builds a strong vocabulary base to accurately express and understand diverse texts. Students learn new words and their usage in context.

The course is structured for students to study the 4 macro skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking every week. However, every week there is a focus on 1 macro skill, which will be studied in greater detail and will be assessed via a formative assessment tool and a summative assessment tool every 5 weeks.

General Information about the Course

  • Learning Mode: 20 hours face to face on campus learning per week.

  • Course duration: The course duration is a total of 24 weeks (24 weeks of study + 6 weeks of holidays).

  • Course Entry Requirement:

    • Education Level Requirement There is no minimum education level to enter this course.

    • English Level requirement: Students can only commence the PTE course if they have an Upper Intermediate level of English or above. Students would need to demonstrate their English level either with an IELTS test (taken less than 2 years before PTE course application) or equivalent. A student may also choose to complete the AEC College English Placement Test which must be taken under test conditions and will be internally assessed. If a student’s English level is deemed to be lower than Upper Intermediate level, they will need to study General English until their English skills are sufficient.

  • Study Level: 1 Level

  • Attendance: A minimum of 80% attendance is required (for student visa holders).

  • Level Completion: 20 weeks.

  • Course Progress: A minimum of 50% or greater must be achieved in assessments to demonstrate satisfactory course progress (for student visa holders).

  • Timetable: Course timetables can vary from morning, afternoon or evening. Contact us to find out the current timetable for each course.

  • Assessment Methods: Formative and summative assessment apply at all levels of learning.

  • Course Award: All students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of their course.
